1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Future Power Capital Ltd ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects personal data submitted through this website. Future Power Capital Ltd is a private limited company registered in England & Wales under company number 16778446, with its registered office at The Tea Building, 56 Shoreditch High Street, London, E1 6JJ, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

This policy is written to reflect the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. Data we collect

We collect personal data that you choose to provide to us directly through the forms on this website. We do not currently collect personal data from any other source. The forms on this site, and the data each one may ask for, are:

  • Contact form (Contact page): first name, last name, email address, telephone number, company or organisation, role, country, reason for contact, subject, how you heard about us, urgency, and the content of your message.
  • Funding application form (Apply For Funding page): company or project name, sector, stage of development, country, team size, year of incorporation, amount sought, intended use of funds, current revenue, prior fundraising history, a link to your website or deck, a project description, and your contact details.
  • Careers and speculative application form (Careers page): your name, contact details, area of interest, and any CV, covering note, or other material you choose to submit.

We do not knowingly collect special category data (such as health, racial or ethnic origin, or religious belief) through these forms, and we ask that you do not include such data in free-text fields unless it is strictly necessary and relevant to your enquiry.

3. How and why we use your data

We use the personal data described above to:

  • respond to enquiries submitted through the Contact page;
  • review and assess funding applications submitted through the Apply For Funding page;
  • review job applications, including speculative applications, submitted through the Careers page;
  • maintain records of our correspondence and dealings with applicants, enquirers, and prospective counterparties;
  • meet our legal, accounting, and regulatory obligations; and
  • maintain the security and proper functioning of this website.

Depending on the context, we rely on the following legal bases under UK GDPR Article 6:

  • Consent: where you have explicitly agreed to our processing your data, such as by ticking the consent checkbox on the Contact form.
  • Legitimate interests: for example, to assess funding applications and job applications, and to maintain records of our business correspondence, provided this does not override your own rights and interests.
  • Performance of a contract, or steps towards one: where processing is necessary to consider entering into an agreement with you, such as an investment or employment relationship.
  • Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose information to comply with the law.

5. Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy. As a general approach:

  • General contact enquiries are typically retained for up to 24 months from the date of your last contact with us, after which they are deleted or anonymised unless a longer period is required by law or an ongoing matter.
  • Funding applications that are not taken forward are typically retained for up to 24 months, so that we may reconsider a project if our activity or focus changes, unless you ask us to delete your data sooner.
  • Job applications and speculative applications are typically retained for up to 12 months, so that we may consider you for future roles, unless you ask us to delete your data sooner.
  • Where a business or contractual relationship is established, data relevant to that relationship is retained for as long as necessary to perform the relationship and to meet applicable legal, tax, and accounting requirements thereafter.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data. We may share personal data with:

  • service providers who host, maintain, or support this website and our internal systems, acting on our instructions;
  • professional advisers (such as lawyers, accountants, or auditors) where necessary for the purposes described in this policy;
  • relevant authorities, regulators, or law enforcement bodies where we are required to do so by law; and
  • a successor entity in the event of a restructuring, sale, or transfer of all or part of our business, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We do not currently name or identify any specific third-party processor on this page; if this changes materially, we will update this policy accordingly.

7. International transfers

Where personal data is transferred outside the United Kingdom (for example, if a service provider we use stores data on servers located abroad), we take steps to ensure an adequate level of protection is in place, such as reliance on the UK's data protection adequacy regulations, or the use of Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, as appropriate to the recipient country.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data, subject to certain exceptions:

  • Access: to obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
  • Erasure: to ask us to delete your personal data in certain circumstances.
  • Restriction: to ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
  • Portability: to receive certain data you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Objection: to object to our processing of your data where we rely on legitimate interests.
  • Withdrawing consent: where processing is based on consent, to withdraw that consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 13 below. We will respond to legitimate requests within one month, as required by UK GDPR, and may extend this by a further two months for complex or numerous requests, in which case we will explain why.

9. Cookies

This website currently uses only cookies or similar technologies that are strictly necessary for the site to function correctly (for example, to remember your navigation preferences within a session). We do not currently use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies. If this changes, we will update this section and, where required by law, seek your consent before doing so.

10. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the personal data we hold from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep the risk to an appropriate minimum given the nature of the data we hold.

11. Complaints and the ICO

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal data, we would welcome the chance to address it directly: please contact us using the details in Section 13. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK's supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our activities, or the law. Any changes will be published on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
